Piero Farenti

I am an engineer, renewable energy developer, entrepreneur, and author with more than two decades of experience spanning technology, energy infrastructure, and the clean energy transition.
My professional journey began in software development and telecommunications engineering, before evolving into the renewable energy sector, where I have spent the last fifteen years developing, designing, permitting, and managing large-scale energy projects across Italy.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to the development of more than 3 GW of renewable energy and energy storage projects, including utility-scale solar PV plants, agrivoltaic systems, wind farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). My work has covered the entire project lifecycle: site origination, feasibility studies, grid connection strategy, environmental permitting, engineering, due diligence, and investment evaluation.
I currently serve as Head of Development at Horus Green Energy Investment, where I oversee the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects and energy storage assets. My focus is on transforming complex opportunities into bankable projects capable of accelerating Europe’s energy transition.
Before entering the utility-scale renewable sector, I founded and led engineering and technology companies, working on software platforms, electrical systems, industrial automation, energy efficiency projects, and renewable energy engineering. I also served as an inspector for the Italian Energy Services Operator (GSE), conducting technical audits on photovoltaic plants across the country.
Over the years, I have participated in the development of hundreds of renewable energy projects and thousands of distributed-generation installations, gaining direct experience with regulatory frameworks, grid integration challenges, energy markets, and project finance.
Alongside my professional activity, I am deeply committed to climate and energy communication. I founded Voice of Transition to bridge the gap between technical expertise and public understanding, providing data-driven insights on renewable energy, climate change, electricity markets, energy storage, and the policies shaping the global transition.
I am also the author of Now or Never (Adesso o mai piĂą), a book dedicated to the challenges, opportunities, and urgency of the energy transition.
My mission is simple: to help decision-makers, investors, professionals, and citizens better understand one of the most important transformations in modern history.
Because the energy transition is not only an environmental necessity—it is an industrial, technological, and economic revolution that will define the coming decades.
